Podcast Launch Checklist: Your Guide to Starting a Podcast

Desperate to launch your podcast?

No budget or patience to work with a professional?

This should help.

What the podcast launch checklist covers

Let’s face it, the task of launching a new podcast can be an absolutely daunting prospect if you’ve never had any experience of doing so before. It’s my goal to help you overcome this ‘fear’.

Whether you’re being tasked with starting a new podcast on behalf of your company employers, or you’re an entrepreneur who wants to leverage the medium for your marketing, this podcast launch checklist will be a handy resource for you.

You don’t know what you don’t know. But after consulting with this checklist, you’ll have a better idea of it!

Here are a few of the basic ideas covered in this extensive list.

Define Your Podcast Objectives

Just as any great journey starts with a destination in mind, you must first determine what you want your podcast to achieve.

This clarity will enable you to craft a podcast that effectively meets your objectives.

This could be anything from growing your audience, increasing your authority within your niche, to generating more leads for your business.

Identifying Your Target Audience

The next crucial step in this podcast launch checklist is to identify the audience you wish to reach.

This is a vital piece of the puzzle because a well-defined audience will guide your content creation process.

So ask yourself, “Who do I want to be an absolute content hero to?”

Develop Your Central Message

Once you’ve defined your audience, it’s time to craft your central message or ‘big idea’.

This is the core message that you want to communicate to your audience.

It’s the unique perspective, insight, or value proposition that sets your podcast apart.

Choose Your Podcasting Equipment

A common misconception is that you need a studio full of expensive gear to start podcasting.

Sure, quality is important, and I’ll fight to the death anyone who claims it isn’t.

But you don’t need to break the bank to achieve it.

A quiet space and a decent quality microphone (not a Blue Yeti) are essential.

As for recording and editing software, there are plenty of affordable and even free options available.
